It may not be new information, or anything I haven’t said before - but then again I’m not the only “expert” in the world and this bears repeating. Whatever it takes for your light buble to go on.

I recently realized that, perhaps as part of their nice facelift, ZDNet’s Updates.com has a nice white papers section. It’s been there a while, but what I’ve noticed is that accessing many of these documents is free of charge. For example, here’s one on Achieving a Top Google Ranking.

A pretty good explanation of Page Rank. Just remember that Page Rank is not the be all and end all of getting traffic from Google…
Pagerank Explained. Google’s PageRank and how to make the most of it.: “Even though the author abandoned mini-rank as a result of this and another paper, the original, unchanged paper is still available on the web. So if you come across a PageRank Explained paper that uses ‘mini-rank’, it has been superceded and is best ignored.”

I’d been a great fan of his for about two years. You can subscribe to his free resource-rich newsletter at his Marketing Results Coaching site. And what’s so great about Warren is that he is always full of wonderful tips and information. Including how I came to be talking to him on the phone.
As many of you know I keep a suite in town where I work when I know I have to be near the convention center or in Vegas proper. While I was there today, I went to pick up some mail. And I’d gotten a postcard from someone I’d been meaning to call, because he was one of the few wizards I respect in the task of promoting a book online (as opposed to an ebook). I’m about half finished with a book that I want to make a big noise with myself.

Google came around and finished its update. Page Rank looks as if it’s coming back. It wasn’t a new implementation as I suspected, nor was it a major update… as you’ll see in the comments from yesterday’s post, Google Guy said the changes were minor and of course, they are.
It’s Baaack

Found this as ZDNet : “Forrester Research and Shop.org survey says that in 2004, search engine marketing appeared as the clear leader as a source of new customers, with retailers reporting that search engine marketing delivered 43% of overall customers to their sites.”
Using your blog to get better organic search engine listings can help your site get this kind of visibility. You can, of course, do this with the rest of your site as well - but if you blog, why not use its potential as a search engine magnet to your advantage?
