What are some examples of viral blogs?
Seth Godin has one. (Remember that idea virus download?) He also talks about others that he’s seen. Business Week’s Blogspotting has a good eye for them too. But it’s not just about the big dogs.
On March 8th, Chris Pearson started the Indie Virus and thousands of quality blogs have been affected.
Paul Chaney’s Business Blog Consulting may have contracted this virus. Nancy P Redford’s Practical Marketing Tips could also have it, not to mention, Marshallk, Podblaze, Intent Blog, Jason Preston, Conversational Recruiting, Abundance Secrets, Just Ask Marc, Language Translation, Tim Bossie, Michel Fortin,, Sales Mindset, and Dan at Vitamin Maniac. I’m sure I’m forgetting at least a dozen people. It basically means that I’m mistaken about how popular your blog is so I thought you were already getting your due.
What’s the Indie Virus? I would tell you but I really want you to visit all the affected sites. Suffice it to say that it’s genius idea of viral blog marketing that you can participate in too.

Hey Brandon,
No. Read the whole series about viral marketing, or go to Pearsonified and read about the indie virus. A smart blogger invented it to get bloggers to help others read more blogs.

Does anyone else cringe like I do when you see the word “virus” used in this way. Viruses are Bad Things. Medically, or on the computer, they have up-to-now always been Bad Things.
It’s not at all surprising that Brandon was confused. I expect a LOT of people to be confused.
This is as bad as deciding that we’re going to come up with some nifty new email tool and name it “Spam”.
Shudder.
Well Vicki,
Part of what makes it viral is the confusion. That’s what leads most people to click the links and go through to the site. I don’t blame him for being confused - or else I wouldn’t have answered him. But that’s what the links are there for… the last paragraph of the post gives you enough information to know it’s not harmful. It’s meant to appeal to people who are marketers as well.
For me, the first time viral marketing made me a whole lot of money, it took on a new meaning.
Thanks for stopping by.
fun is very love bi
