Targeting more affluent clientele, and cutting to the chase.
Giving a lot of great, free information, from your blog or newsletter is great for a certain crowd at a certain time for a certain amount of time. If you’re making a name for yourself, or building a resource site that will direct traffic to your mini-sites, that’s wonderful.
But there’s going to come a time when you’ll notice that people want to give you their money in the interests of getting just the what they need to know, without the extra fluff.
They don’t have time for free.
They don’t have time for free.
They don’t. Have the time. To get join your free site, then get your one-time-only-offer, then download your free book, which is the only place where you have your sales link.
They’d much rather go to your competitor and pay them $100, $250 or $1000 to get all the reports right away, hire you to do the research or hire you to do the whole job.
It took me some time to see this, and my big dilemna was “what if I like having a free resource? What if I do this as much for fun as for money and traffic? Then what?”
That was very simple, and it was Shawn Casey who enlightened me. I was already targeting more affluent clientele, because I was going where they were, and so was my business partner.
We had corporate clients and we served them a bit differently.
But I was using the beginner logic on the affluent clients and my partner was not. So I watched him for about a year. And I applied Shawn Casey’s very simple advice.
What was it? If you guess correctly what Shawn Casey told me that tripled my income in a month, I’ll tell you what it is. If you don’t, you’ll have to ask Shawn yourself. Be prepared to part with a dollar, bu it was 100% worth it.

The very simple advice? Give people (clients) what they want.
In other words beginners want help. And the affluent clients just want it done and are willing to pay for it.
I am not sure if that is the answer you wanted or even if that is what you meant. I have read and pondered this post several times and although I think I am coming to understand what you are saying and meant I can’t help thinking such practice would and does have strange repercussions and manifestations in the world of sex.
Hi Tyler,
You’re close. And I think pondering the point will end up serving you better than actually getting the answer right.
Let me try to be a bit more clear, as I wrote that post from inspiration, after realizing when my income tripled, that it only took one month, and all this time later, it shows no signs of reverting back to the days when I had to scramble for every penny.
We were having a conversation, actually I was giving the free consultation that comes with a certain package I offer.
In the course of that training, he started to offer me advice as well. The first thing suggestion he gave was regarding not just my pricing, but what I was offering, and something that was very unique about my product that no one else was offering.
I’ll give you another guess. Everyone who answers correctly, I’ll confirm with via email.
Oh, and thanks for coming by and commenting!
Another useful and free tip. Thanks a lot.

bujes,
Thank you. Although I see you didn’t guess.
Ibrahim,
It’s okay not to get it. It’s a contest. If everyone understood this, we’d all be rich. The point is to get you thinking.
Second, there’s thousands of pages here telling how to get free traffic to your site. Do a search on free traffic methods and you’ll get at least 11 pages of free, step by step instructions to follow.
But it’s not easy. No one ever said that, and if it was easy, or easy to grasp, we’d all have traffic.
That would be like me walking into Donald Trump’s office and saying “I don’t get the Apprentice. Tell me some easy steps to become a billionaire.” It just doesn’t work that way.
I sell books that make it simpler and faster for people who want detail. You’ll find them on the products page. I do research for people who don’t have the time to learn to do it the right way, or would rather invest in guaranteed results than possibly screw up on their own. You’ll find that on the services page. There’s also free information here for anyone who just wants free traffic. Some of those techniques you’ll find right on the front page.
I really hope that helps you.
Hmm, raise your price and offer a complete end to end service?
Basically, if you are affluent and have lots of money, it’s cheap to you, so you want to throw some money at a problem and simply have it be solved by someone you can trust to make the right decisions for you.
Now, to get to the point where I am affluent and can toss money at end to end services…
those very simple but everything that is simply pays off some day…. thank you…
This actually struck a cord with me Tinu. Lately I’ve been suffering from information overload. It’s probably because I work in the information marketing industry where there is an abundance of “free” books, courses, newsletters etc etc.
Because I also manage a popular set of blogs I’m also provided with products to review for free as well.
I’m currently in the process of producing a course myself and I’ve noticed a change in my behaviours as I go about hunting around for the resources to launch this course - I want answers to my needs immediately and I’m willing to drop cash to get those answers.
I don’t want the free product or to enter the sales funnel to learn about the product, I want my needs met today.
Certainly something worth considering and really epitomizes the concept of a “target reader” (or target traffic).
Hi Yaho!
Great to have you by here, an honor and a pleasure both. I read two of your blogs when I have time, usually on Fridays. And you have fantastic information and a great posting style.
I wrote this post out of frustration myself, we’re on the exact same page. Especially when I’m building a resource and looking for people to interview, I want to buy a product, or speak to a person, right now, today. One of the few people who get this is Joel Comm. *Immediately* after I bought one of his products, I didn’t even have time to fire off a separate email to him when he answered my question form the order form! I love it when that happens.
So definitely, I don’t mind giving my email for follow-up information, not at all. But if a product is only $300 and I have to join the free membership site, then get the one-time-only offer, and then check my email to click on a link to get the upsell… please. You lost me at the one time only offer. I want to see your sales page RIGHT AFTER I give you my email.
Whoo look at me ranting. Thanks again for coming by!
I know this is off topic. But what amazes me is the type of person who goes on line to sell cupcakes and makes a million…whats up with that? lol.
BTW…I have to repeat the website link isn’t mine, it is my momma in-laws…trying to get her into the blog world.
