Tool Time Friday | Mouse in your house?

Mouse Gestures 1.5.2, allows you to execute common commands (like page forward/backward, close tab, new tab) by mouse gestures drawn over the current webpage, without reaching for the toolbar or the keyboard.
You can also use click-only “rocker” gestures which are even faster than drawn gestures.

Tool Time Friday | Duplicate Tag?

With Duplicate Tab you can copy a tab so that the copy has the same history of the original tab. A tab can be copied into a new tab or a new window.
Other features available are “Merge Windows” which moves all tabs from all windows in to one single window, and “Detach Tab” which makes a window out of a tab.
For both features you can select tabs with Ctrl+Click. This allows you to merge only the selected tabs into a window, or to detach all selected tabs as tabs in a new window.

All actions can be invoked by toolbar buttons, shortcut keys and context menu items.

new old pliers
Creative Commons License photo credit: knitsteel

I really only enough about web design to be dangerous- I’ve just been far too busy/lazy to learn how to be a good designer, and there’s really no point in aspiring to mediocrity. Except of course, to know enough about whether you’re hiring a good designer. :)

Tool Time Friday | Do You Play?

This is a must-have addon for all video-site fans!

YouPlayer is a video player with playlist similar to the one in Winamp. You may add/drag a YouTube, Google Video, Metacafe or MySpace link into a playlist window. When you double-click on it, it will be shown in the video window. You may now even drag local files from hard drive into playlist and watch them! You may drag a link to a browser window or right-click it and open in a new tab. You may also add/drag other links, thus the playlist will work as a bookmarker.

Musings on VideoEgg’s Innovative Web Video Ads

This morning, I read today’s TechCrunch’s article on VideoEgg and how they have introduced some smart options for web video advertising.

Want some?

I won’t go into all of the details of it here, but VideoEgg has come up with several options that don’t lean on pre-roll and post-roll. In addition, to emphasize engagement, you don’t have to pay for the ad unless the person watching it takes an action. If they don’t interact with the video ad, it costs you Nothing. Think of what that can do for your branding.
