I haven’t been writing much about Technorati because since around the middle of last week, my tags haven’t been working right. I’ve been meaning to do a nice video tutorial about things you can do with Technorati, Icerocket and the like but like I said, I been broke down.
Well, anyway, today when I was re-claiming my blog I noticed a post of Steve’s , which talks about new goings-ons at Technorati.
Apparently, they’ve got a business blogger beta running , and in it’s first stage of deployment, they’re doing a kind of clipping service.
“The first dish we’re serving up is Explore, which is like a newspaper frontpage for any topic. Wondering what Business bloggers are talking about today? Now you can find out what the hottest posts are in any area, from Gossip to Gadgets to anything else you can think of.” says Derek Powazek in their blog.
So how is this different from what Technorati is already doing?
Well, at the top of the page it says “Explore recent authoritative posts from blogs about” - so it’s basically picking from the cream of the crop, you know, the blogs that the rest of us link to when we’re covering news.
Not clear yet how jiggy you have to be in order to be considered authoritative - i.e. are they picking from the cream in each category? Or is this purely a popularity-type thing where we geeky kids can’t really play?
It’s okay not to be popular. At least that’s what I tell myself. Sticks n stones n all that.
*sniff*
**Update 7:15am - My Technorati tags are working again! Yay! I think it was on my side by I can’t remember for the life of me what the hell I did differently.
