Traffic Method #228 : Host a Free Tool
Hey, You're New Here! We love new people.

This is a much easier trick to pull in the Techology sector online and you see it often. Someone hires a programmer to make a tool that tells you where you rank in Google with some unique twist. Their target market is people who are watching their Google positions and need more traffic. Match made in heaven.
I wonder though, why I don’t see these in other areas.
If I had a cooking site for busy parents, I’d have a random Ten Minute Dinner Recipe Generator.
If I was in business travel, I’d have a best last-minute Business Flight Rate Finder.
If I was in Language Translation, I’d have a tool that measured how close an auto-translated document online was close to the real thing.
If I was in Niche Marketing, I’d have a Niche Brainstorming Tool.
If I was in do-it-yourself website promotion, I’d have a frequently updated traffic tips tool that anyone could add to their iGoogle home page.
Wait. I am in Website Promotion. Imagine that. Is this the part where I tell you to add our Traffic Methods to your iGoogle page?

Hi Tinu,
Sorry to contact you through the blog, but I’ve already sent in three e-mails to staff, you, and every e-mail I could find, but still haven’t received a response.
A while back, I ordered your Google Videos series, but have misplaced my confirmation e-mail with the log-in details. If you could please verify my order and re-send the confirmation e-mail with the details, I would definitely appreciate it.
I paid through Google checkout and I used the e-mail address in this comment.
Thanks for your time.
Hi D,
Never a problem. Just to let you know though, if you sent an email to me through any of my old addresses, you’d get a bounceback telling you to write staff@freetraffictip.com - because those mailboxes don’t work anymore. All they do is tell you to redirect your mail to staff.
Also, I see all staff@freetraffictip.com emails eventually, and unless you sent them an email today, we haven’t seen one from you.
Third, that’s why the blog is here, as a backup to support. You’ll want to give it at least 24 hours, because my staff is all volunteer - since I can’t type I have to Dragon everything and they manage the mail.
I’m sending you another confirmation now.
So five minutes after I send this message I’ll also be sending an email to you at the Google Checkout address again, then again to the email address you’ve left here. If you still don’t get anything, it’s *very* important that you respond again. Okay?
Thanks for writing.
Rather than edit the entire response, I’ll just let you know that I’m half asleep… at any rate the extra confirmation is on the way. And if you’re on Facebook, you can always get confirmations from me there too.
Hi Tinu,
Thanks for the quick response.
My first e-mail was to staff@… and it was sent on Friday morning. When I hadn’t heard anything by Sunday, I sent another to staff@…, tinu@…, and three other e-mail addresses I could find. I received nothing (not even a bounce-back telling me to e-mail staff), so by Tuesday, I sent in another e-mail. As I said, this was my last resort (I didn’t want to bug you on the blog for what I assume is an off-topic problem).
Just so you know, you’re welcome to go to sleep now.
I received two e-mails: Resending part 1 and Re: Resending part 2. The second e-mail had the information I needed in it. Now I’m off to respond to both (as instructed).
Thank you very much for taking the time to get this resolved.
Hey D,
No problem. And just so you know, I was half asleep when I wrote the first message, then went back and edited like four times as I started to wake up. So basically just disregard everything except we didn’t get your first message… and the part about you being welcome, anytime, so stop by and leave a comment if you have an issue and can’t seem to get through any other way.
The blog is really good at helping us find where out of the thousands of successful email or service interactions, which went wrong or incomplete, whether it was due to technology or just a simple case of us having our hands full.
I only told you that we didn’t get your email so that you’d know it wasn’t a case of us being overwhelmed this time - partly for my future reference too.
Thanks again for replying. And it’s no problem.
I like for things to be resolved, fast, whether it’s a resending of an email or just cathing up with old friends.
