Traffic Thursdays | 15 Things Any Site Can Do To Increase Traffic Within 24 Hours

- Write an article and distribute it to high traffic sites
- Add the link to that article on your site to social bookmarking sites - mention the reprint rights
- Write to your past clients with a special freebie.
- Answer questions in forums - leave your signature file
- Start a blog, or if you have one, do a great, well written blog post that solves a common problem. Mind your tagging, and ping responsibly.
- Submit a press release
- Start a Pay Per Click campaign
- Contact a non-competing peer to send a free offer with subscription about your site and reciprocate (Long term commissions sweeten the deal.)
- Write a three page ebook/whitepaper and give it away free.
- Order a radio or TV spot in a local market
- Offer to speak at a targeted venue for free as long as they’ll let you speak within the next 24 hours to a sizeable audience. Combine with giveaway for more signups.
- Have a free Skypecast, or do a video or audio podcast.
- Ask clients to tell a friend online, give them a means, offer them a rebate or other form of reward for each buyer, and partial credit for a certain number of subscribers
- Buy business cards with calling card stickers on the back and give them away at a local conference, Chamber of Commerce meeting, Internet Chamber of Commerce meeting or other gathering
- Go to sites like Yahoo Answers or LinkedIn where you can display your expertise and answer individual questions in the most unique way you can manage.

A good way I have found to get indexed in 24 hours or less is to use craigslist.org, and post an ad.
The ad’s are up for 45 days (depending on the location you specify) and I can tell you from first hand experience this really works.

Oh, you won’t get any dispute from me. My long-term clients will tell you that this was the very first tip I put in my very first book on getting spidered in Google faster- Four Years Ago. I even contacted Craig about donating a part of my proceeds to his site, but he said it would mean more to him if I gave it to a school.
The technique was even more effective when fewer people were doing it, and more people respected the environment Craig created.
In a few weeks I’ll have my free ebook out on several hundred traffic tips one can use immediately. I’m tired of seeing someone write these books and charge an arm and a leg for information that doesn’t even work - or who think their traffic is huge at 50 visitors a day….

I replied to your post before I saw the comments. I think the 16th tip is the most powerful one for overall traffic - I’m thinking of my core audience, which is offline businesses adding online components, people who have Timeshare companies, or do custom cabinets, or even language translation, who don’t have affiliate programs, or online referral programs (even though some should).

I think seo is the most powerful tool for traffic. I search for keywords that have less than a million competition and create a post about them. Keywords that have at least 100 visitors a month.
They usually get on page 1 of google - since blogger.com get very high rankings, for some reason I do not yet know
In the top three, I’d say yes. Most powerful, no. Ways you can increase traffic *within 24 hours* - never. The execution of the strategy takes much longer than that.
The theory you’re speaking of, though, I wrote a book a few years ago with a slightly more complex version of that very same advice. On that basis, I can somewhat vouch for your suggestion. Thanks for stopping by.
